UNBELIEVABLE! Abuja DISCO Refunds Overbilled Customers
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has credited 32,229 electricity customers who were overestimated from October 2014 to May 2015, amounting to over N50million collected in seven months.
Recall that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) slammed a sanction on the Abuja Distribution company (Disco) on April 16 after it investigated and confirmed complaints of overbillings by electricity customers within the Disco’s franchise area of Kogi, Abuja, Niger and Nasarawa states.
Documents obtained by Daily Trust revealed that the Disco sought and obtained a 14 day extension but had provided unsatisfactory defence on the Order No. NERC/139 – Order on the Issue of Non Compliance of AEDC with the Commission’s Methodology for Estimated Billing.
However Abuja Disco responded later on June 15 in a letter with reference No: ED-RSA/NERC/CH/07/01/2015 stating that it has notified the 32,229 affected customers as identified in their earlier defence.
