NERC signs pact with CPC for metering of customers

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) yesterday signed a pact with the Consumers’ Protection Commission (CPC) to ensure mostly that consumers are metered adequately by the electricity Distribution companies (Discos).

Speaking yesterday at the CPC headquarters in Abuja, NERC acting head, Dr. Anthony Akah ‎said, “It is our belief that with this collaboration, complaints that may arise in the course of the implementation of the tariff and other electricity consumers’ related ones would be effectively managed and addressed in line with the commission’s redress mechanism.‎”
Both agencies said they would ensure that consumers get meters as prescribed in the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) the 11 Discos had signed  with the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
