The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) said it has metred 88,000 customers in its four states franchise area while 30,000 metres are being installed to reduce complaints about the estimated billing methodology.

A statement by its spokesman, Ahmed Shekarau, said AEDC had not overestimated its customers in the payment of electricity bills as its data showed over 20 per cent level of under billing.

“We have installed over 88,000 metres for our customers and have got delivery of 30,000 more metres which we are installing, just as we are currently in the process of procuring additional 60,000 metres to complement our planned mass metering of at least 100,000 customers annually in five years, freely,” the statement said.
